Robust Haven has recently been featured as a case study on Telerik’s website, after collaborating on an innovative and ambitious software solution for Robust Haven’s client, Genghis Grill.
Based in Dallas, Texas, Robust Haven is a full-service technology partner that designs, builds and manages custom software. The Robust Haven team offered the client a solution on how to connect casual dining restaurateurs with their customers more effectively. According to Leblanc Meneses, founder and CTO of Robust Haven, “ Customers are the most critical element in any restaurant’s formula for success. Restaurant management needs to discover what customers are really thinking. We give them valuable marketing data points . That is our business ”. The Robust Haven team developed a user-friendly and efficient customer satisfaction survey by capturing comprehensive input. This data could then be used to effectively improve workplace procedures, products and staff training.
A Pretty Tall Order
This order entailed developing a software-driven solution that required a combination of components. These included Point-of-Sale (POS) integration, an efficient administrative backend, and a comprehensive reporting dashboard. These were also coupled with an attractive, user-friendly front end, and with mobile device support for survey participants. Nevertheless, Robust Haven was able to rise to the challenge magnificently.
With the client in desperate need of this type of solution, Robust Haven needed a working prototype completed within 30 days, and a production quality solution available a month after that. Such a tall order meant that Robust Haven needed to move aggressively to produce such a high-performance and feature-rich application. After careful consideration, the developers decided to incorporate Telerik’s ASP.NET MVC Extensions, RadControls for Silverlight, and Telerik Reporting.
Tools From Telerik
The quantity and quality of tools and controls offered by Telerik enabled Robust Haven to deliver visually appealing applications within 70 days. The application was rolled out to three stores by July 2011, and has proved to be a major hit with the client. The application has since been deployed to 26 stores, and has collected over 3,000 completed surveys from diners. The technology is set to be installed at another 88 restaurants, and functionality has been extended to offer multi-tenancy support.
The Wow! factor involved in this solution has led to the client’s inviting the Robust Haven team for additional projects.
Leblanc Meneses is generous in his praise for the role played by Telerik’s technologies in the success of this venture. He explains that time and cost would have easily doubled without Telerik’s controls, saying “ Without their tools suite, the project’s UI would not be as impressive as it is today. Nor would we have been able to deliver within the highly pressured timeline and agreed budget ”. He is persuaded that Telerik allows an independent software vendor like Robust Haven to take on a project, using all the essentials from one source.
